Nursery

Welcome to Our Nursery

Your baby will stay with you during your entire stay. This will allow you to get to know your baby and become comfortable in caring for him or her. During this time, you will learn how to feed and care for your baby so you will feel confident and prepared when you are ready to go home. When you are admitted to the hospital, your nurse will provide you with education you need to be able to care for your new baby. You are encouraged to read the education that was given to you, and also watch the many educational videos on our closed circuit television system that you can watch during your stay.

Most physicians make rounds once daily in the morning hours. Your baby may need to come to the nursery during the morning when your physician is making rounds. Your baby will be returned to you as soon as the physician has completed his/her examination.

Please let our nursing staff know how we can be of help to you during your stay.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

For many families, having a baby with complications after delivery is not expected. An 8 bed, Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery (NICU) is dedicated to our sickest and tiniest patients. We provide specialized care that is critical to sustaining and nurturing new life. Our staff of knowledgeable and caring pediatricians, nurses and ancillary staff are prepared to take the best possible care of your baby.

It is important to support the family as a whole during this stressful time. Siblings are allowed to visit the new baby in the NICU after being screened for illness. Many times, mothers are dismissed from the hospital before their baby. In such cases, we offer Boarder Rooms on an "as available" basis at no charge.
